BLACK ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
Embracing BEE

Empowerdex Certificate (click here)

At Powertech IST black economic empowerment (BEE) is embraced as a value creating strategy, designed to create realistic, meaningful, enduring and sustainable partnerships with those previously denied them. We welcome the move away from the narrow based BEE assessment model based on black ownership only to the more comprehensive and inclusive Broad Based BEE model espoused in the “Codes of Good Practice” for BEE. Our BEE strategy remains focused on; capacity building, job creation and economic growth.

The objective is to ensure that our economic benefits and opportunities are spread equitably across the South African society. In all our business relationships we aim to ensure that our efforts are conducted in the spirit of empowerment, as well as in line with the letter of the law.

Where possible we practice affirmative procurement by sourcing of goods and services from Black-owned small & medium enterprises (including micro-enterprises). Powertech IST also regards employment equity as a strategic advantage. Each division has an employment equity plan and strategy with specific aims, especially in respect of the appointment of black women and middle and senior management employees.

Powertech IST remains committed to addressing issues such as ownership, human capital development, affirmative procurement, skills development and enterprise development. Management considers black economic empowerment to be key to:

  • Redressing the inequalities of the past
  • Our operating philosophies and practices
  • Long-term stability and growth in our company and our sector
  • The capacity of our businesses for economic growth
  • Creating a diverse workforce that is a competitive advantage
  • Creating synergy between economic growth, development and empowerment
